Telehandlers, Rough Terrain Forklifts
American Telehandler offers for sale used telehandlers (rough terrain forklifts) to a variety of industries. Telehandlers are utilized in the construction industry to deliver material to various levels of a construction jobsite. These rough terrain forklifts are also used for other applications in many other industries outside the construction industry. The farming business, the oil business, and the mining industry are but a few of the industries that utilize rough terrain forklifts to lift, load, and/or supply materials to their intended destination.
The primary brands American Telehandler represents are: Lull, Skytrak, Gradall, JLG, Terex / Genie. These brands command a 70% market share of the North American telehandler market. Please click on the links above to see additional information regarding the various models for each brand.
Telehandlers are widely used in both industry, agriculture, and the military. A telescopic forklift, referred to in the equipment industry as a telehandler or rough terrain forklift could be considered a hybrid of a forklift and a crane. Most similar in appearance to a forklift but with crane style components such as a telescopic boom extending forward and upward. Telehandlers have fittings at the end of the boom for several versatile attachments including pallet forks, block forks, lumber forks, buckets, work platforms, pallet forks, jibs, and truss boom to name a few.
Moving loads from place-to place and retrieval of loads from places that are unreachable by a conventional forklift are the most common applications for pallet forks. Telehandlers can access palletized cargo within a trailer and move this product to rooftops and other locations on a worksite.
The telehandler is more practical and with more functionality vs. standard cranes. As the boom extends outward and upward it is balanced by a counter weight at the rear of the machine. A load chart is provided with each telehandler that must be adhered to ensure safe operation. These load charts utilize weight loads, boom angle, and height to formulate safety guidelines. Many telehandlers also employ a computerized sensor system to consistently monitor the vehicle and ensure safe operation.
Some telehandlers are equipped with outriggers. These telehandlers are primary heavy weight capacity machines. These outriggers extend the lifting capacity of the telehandler during stationary procedures.
